About Dhankar

Dhankar was once the capital of Spiti. Its monastery clings to an eroded spur high above the meeting of the Spiti and Pin rivers, one of the most striking sights in the valley.

We stop here on day 4 between Tabo and Kaza. A walk up to Dhankar lake above the village is possible if you have time and feel well at the altitude.
